SNAP Emergency Preparedness Meetings at Northgate and West Seattle
Dear Community Partner,
The first is scheduled for Monday, January 9, 2012 at the Northgate Community Center located at 10510 5th Ave NE 98125 and the second will be on Tuesday, January 17, 2012 at Southwest Community Center located at 2801 SW Thistle, 98126. Both meetings will begin at 6:30 PM. If you would like to attend please RSVP at " href="javascript:void(0);"> . If you know someone who would like to attend but needs translation services please invite them and let us know when you RSVP. Lastly, the same email address is available if you would like to provide us with your thoughts and ideas outside of the meetings or survey. Among the questions that we are trying to answer are:
· What are your ideas about how we can engage communities, especially those who have not participated because of physical, language, or access limitations?
· Are there key community members that should be identified and included in the plan? If so who are they?
· How do we engage the community to increase their level of awareness & preparedness?
Thank you in advance for any information you can provide to help create a plan that is as comprehensive and inclusive as possible. If you would like to talk with someone directly please send your request or questions to the Seattle Disaster Planning email and we will have one of the Office of Emergency Management staff contact you directly.
Barb Graff
Director,
We need your help; we are looking for input on Seattle’s Disaster Readiness and Response Plan. To have the best plan possible we are committed to the idea of “Planning with the Community rather than for the Community”. We know that our ability to effectively respond to a major incident rests, in large part, with everyone who may be impacted being given the opportunity to be involved in the process of planning for that event. We are inviting you to participate in helping us craft a plan that is reflective of the various needs and wisdom of the community. We also realize that participation comes in many forms and offering a “one dimensional” process for that participation will not lead to the type of input we are hoping to get.
Recognizing the time constraints we all struggle with, we are providing a number of ways that you can provide us with your thoughts and ideas. We have an online survey tool that can be accessed at http://www.surveymonkey.com/s/CC8DH5D . We would also like to invite you to attend one of two community forums.
