Certificate Maintenance Program

ASL Interpreter Network is an approved Certificate Maintenance Program SponsorASL Interpreter Network is an approved Certificate Maintenance Program (CMP) Sponsor under Registry of Interpreters for the Deaf (RID).

CMP Sponsors are organizations that are approved by RID to provide workshops, lectures, conferences, or independent study activities such as mentoring and self-study. All Certified Interpreters are required to continue their education by earning Continuing Education Units (CEU). Registry of Interpreters for the Deaf uses this program to monitor certified members accumulation of CEU to promote quality interpreting services. CMP Sponsors are continually monitored and audited by the RID Professional Development Committee Review Board to maintain their status.

ASLIN is a nationally approved Certificate Maintenance Program Sponsor, offering continuing education credits through the Registry of Interpreters for the Deaf (RID).  This program fosters life-long learning through diverse projects and coursework, includes individual consults to design independent study projects that meet the learning goals of individual interpreters.  The Education Department Administrator is authorized to offer CEUs for academic coursework, and Non-RID sponsored events, such as community workshops and lectures.  ASLIN also offers workshops specifically for interpreters, aimed to improve the quality of their work through practice and feedback, presented by qualified professionals in the field of deafness and interpretation.

Are you a recent graduate, or newly certified interpreter looking to extend your expertise to settings like the courtroom, in-patient psychiatry, or surgical procedures?  ASLIN offers externships to help increase the skills and practice of our current working professionals in the field.  The Education Program Administrator can match externs with mentors for site observations, team learning, or eve design a more formal mentorship plan where interpreters earn CEUs together while they learn.   Ask the Program Administrator if you are interested in this program at:
